Our mission

Business Stats is an independent publisher of business, economic and market statistics. Our aim is to make reliable data easy to find, understand and cite, free of charge.

This policy describes the standards our editorial team works to, who is responsible for what, how we use software and AI tools, how we are funded, and how we correct mistakes.

Editorial standards

  • Primary sources: every key figure is tied to the organisation that produced it, with a link and the release date. Details in our methodology.
  • Accuracy before speed: we delay a page rather than publish a number we could not confirm.
  • Clear labelling: estimates, forecasts and company-reported figures are marked as such.
  • Honest charts: axes, scales and comparisons do not exaggerate or hide change.
  • Neutral language: we describe what the data show and avoid sensational headlines.
  • Original work: each page has its own analysis; we do not copy other publishers' text or charts.
4

Use of AI and software tools

We use software, including AI-assisted tools, to help with tasks such as drafting outlines, editing language, formatting tables and building charts.

Our rule: AI tools are never used as a source of figures. Every number on Business Stats comes from a named source and is checked by a member of our team against that source before publication. A person on the team is responsible for every page.

5

Independence, advertising and funding

Business Stats is funded by display advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence on what we cover or what the data show.

  • We do not sell coverage, and we do not publish paid content presented as data or editorial.
  • If a page ever contains sponsored content or affiliate links, it will be clearly labelled.
  • Companies we write about do not review or approve our pages before publication.
6

Corrections policy

We want our figures to be right, and we welcome reports of errors from readers, journalists, researchers and the organisations whose data we use.

  1. Report: email businesstats.com@gmail.com or use the contact form (topic "Report an error") with the link to the page, the value in question and, if possible, the source.
  2. Acknowledge: we aim to reply within two business days.
  3. Check: the Managing Editor checks the figure against the original source.
  4. Correct: confirmed errors are fixed on the page and its "Last updated" date is changed.
  5. Note: where a correction changes a key figure or conclusion, we add a dated correction note to the page that says what was changed.
TypeHow we handle it
CorrectionA figure, name or fact was wrong. Fixed and noted on the page.
UpdateThe source published new or revised data. The page is refreshed and the date changed; no correction note is needed.
ClarificationThe figure was right but the wording could mislead. The text is improved.
7

Review of older reports

Business Stats has published statistics since before these standards were written down. We are reviewing our older reports one by one: checking every figure against its primary source, replacing secondary sources, and rewriting pages that do not meet this policy. Pages that cannot be brought up to standard are removed or redirected.

Reviewed pages show a recent "Last updated" date and cite their primary sources. If you rely on a page that has not been updated recently, please check the original source, or ask us to prioritise it.

8

Feedback and complaints

If you disagree with how we have presented a topic, or have a complaint about our content, write to us. The Managing Editor reviews every complaint and replies with the outcome. If a complaint leads to a change, the page is updated as described in the corrections policy.
