Bing.com traffic at a glance
Bing.com is the search engine website run by Microsoft and one of the most visited sites on the internet. According to Semrush, it received about 1.94 billion visits worldwide in August 2026, making it the 16th most visited website in the world. That figure was down 47.85 percent from August 2025, one of the sharpest declines among major websites, as more people turned to AI chatbots and as Microsoft moved more of its AI search experience to Copilot.
Traffic to Bing.com is not the same as use of Bing search. Many Bing searches happen inside Windows, the Edge browser, Microsoft Copilot, Yahoo and other partner sites, and are not counted as visits to the Bing.com website. Microsoft said in April 2026 that Bing had passed 1 billion monthly active users across all of these channels. This article focuses on visits to the Bing.com website itself, measured by the two leading web traffic analytics companies, Similarweb and Semrush. For the wider picture of search, see our data on search engine usage.
Monthly visits from October 2023 to 2026
Similarweb data show that Bing.com received between 1.3 and 1.4 billion visits a month worldwide between October 2023 and March 2024. Traffic held at 1.3 billion from October to December 2023, rose to 1.4 billion in January 2024, dipped to 1.3 billion in February and returned to 1.4 billion in March.
Up, then down: Similarweb put Bing.com at 1.3 to 1.4 billion visits a month in 2023 and early 2024, 1.8 billion in September 2024 and about 1.27 billion a month in mid-2026.
This was the period in which Microsoft was integrating OpenAI technology into Bing, first as Bing Chat in February 2023 and then under the Copilot brand from late 2023. Traffic was stable rather than rising sharply, but it rose later in 2024: Similarweb recorded 1.8 billion worldwide visits to Bing.com in September 2024, including 404.3 million from the United States. By mid-2026 its estimates had fallen back, with about 3.8 billion visits in total over the three months from June to August 2026, or roughly 1.27 billion a month.
Monthly visits in 2025 and 2026
Semrush, which estimates traffic using clickstream data from a different panel, puts Bing.com traffic at a higher level than Similarweb but shows the same recent direction: a steep fall. Its data imply about 3.72 billion visits in August 2025, falling to between 1.8 and 2.1 billion a month in the spring and summer of 2026.
Almost halved in a year: Semrush estimates put Bing.com at about 1.94 billion visits in August 2026, down from about 3.72 billion a year earlier.
Month to month, the 2026 figures have moved in a narrow band: about 1.80 billion in April, 2.10 billion in May, 1.86 billion in June, about 1.99 billion in July and 1.94 billion in August, when traffic was down 2.28 percent from the previous month. Semrush also found that Bing.com traffic in the United States fell by about half between July 2025 and July 2026, over the same period in which US visits to ChatGPT rose by 48 percent.
The difference between the two data providers is a reminder that website traffic figures are estimates, not counts. Similarweb and Semrush each combine panel data, clickstream data and direct measurement from some websites, and each uses its own model to scale up to the whole internet. Their absolute numbers can differ by a billion visits or more for a site as large as Bing.com, but their trends usually agree, and both show Bing.com traffic falling in 2026.
Where Bing.com traffic comes from
The United States is by far the largest source of visits to Bing.com. In Similarweb data for August 2026, 41.13 percent of visits came from the US, followed by Japan at 10.76 percent, the United Kingdom at 7.05 percent, China at 6.18 percent and Germany at 4.46 percent.
Four in ten visits from the US: the United States accounted for 41.13 percent of visits to Bing.com, almost four times as many as second-placed Japan.
This pattern mirrors the Bing search market share by country. Bing is strongest in the United States, where it held 8.92 percent of search engine referrals in August 2026 according to Statcounter, and in Japan, where it held 28.29 percent. In China, Bing is one of the few foreign search engines that remains available and held 18.92 percent of referrals. Worldwide, Bing held 4.5 percent of the search market, second only to Google at 91.1 percent.
Desktop vs mobile
Bing.com is overwhelmingly a desktop website. According to Semrush, 71.46 percent of its visits in August 2026, about 1.39 billion, came from desktop computers, and 28.54 percent, about 553 million, from mobile devices. By contrast, most traffic to leading websites such as Google, YouTube and Facebook comes from phones.
Seven in ten on desktop: 71.46 percent of Bing.com visits came from desktop computers in August 2026.
The reason is distribution. Bing is the default search engine in Microsoft Edge and in the Windows search box, both of which are used mainly on PCs. On smartphones, the default search engine on Android and in Apple Safari is Google, so Bing.com attracts only a small share of mobile searches: Statcounter put the Bing share of mobile search at 0.6 percent in August 2026, against 8.84 percent on desktop. The dominance of Google-linked defaults on phones is reflected in our data on mobile operating system market share.
How people use Bing.com
Visitors to Bing.com tend to stay for a long time and view many pages. Similarweb data for August 2026 show an average visit duration of 7 minutes and 14 seconds, 5.95 pages per visit and a bounce rate of 35.99 percent, meaning that about a third of visits ended after a single page. These figures are typical of a search engine, where users run several searches and click through results in one visit.
Most visitors arrive directly: 85.22 percent of visits in August 2026 came from people typing the address, using a bookmark or reaching the site through the browser, according to Similarweb, reflecting the role of Edge and Windows defaults. The audience skews male, at 59.21 percent, and the largest age group is 25 to 34.
Bing.com vs ChatGPT
The rise of AI chatbots is the biggest change in Bing.com traffic. In September 2024, ChatGPT received 3.1 billion worldwide visits, compared with 1.8 billion for Bing.com, according to Similarweb. It was also the first month in which ChatGPT overtook Bing.com in the United States, with 442.9 million US visits against 404.3 million.
The chatbot overtakes the search engine: in September 2024 ChatGPT drew 3.1 billion visits worldwide against 1.8 billion for Bing.com, and passed Bing in the US for the first time.
The gap has since widened. By August 2026, chatgpt.com was the fourth most visited website in the world according to Semrush, with 6.58 billion visits, more than three times as many as Bing.com. The irony is that ChatGPT uses Bing to search the web for current information, so part of the activity that once happened on Bing.com now happens inside ChatGPT, powered by the Bing index. Microsoft has also shifted much of its own AI assistant traffic to copilot.microsoft.com and to Copilot inside Windows and Office. The rise of AI assistants is tracked in our data on generative AI users worldwide.
Where Bing.com ranks among the top websites
Bing.com ranked 16th among the most visited websites in the world in August 2026, according to Semrush, far behind google.com with 105.72 billion visits and youtube.com with 54.93 billion. The chart compares Bing.com with the other leading websites outside the two Google giants.
Bing trails the social giants: Bing.com drew 1.94 billion visits in August 2026, about a third of ChatGPT and less than a fifth of Facebook.
Bing.com remains one of the largest websites in the world, with more visits than all but a handful of sites. But in a ranking now shaped by social platforms and AI chatbots, it has slipped behind sites such as Reddit, Wikipedia and X. For a comparison of the companies behind these sites, see our data on the largest internet companies by market value and the biggest social media platforms.
Why Bing.com traffic matters to Microsoft
Falling website traffic has not stopped Bing from making money. Microsoft search advertising revenue, most of it generated by Bing, grew 12 percent excluding traffic acquisition costs in fiscal 2026, which ended in June, to about 15.2 billion dollars. That is because Bing earns money wherever its results appear, whether on Bing.com, in Edge, in Copilot, on Yahoo or through partners, and because Microsoft is selling ads inside AI answers. Traffic to Bing.com itself is one part of a much larger distribution network. The size of the Microsoft business is compared with its peers in our big tech revenue comparison.
