The standards our team works to, how we use software and AI tools, how we are funded, and how we correct mistakes.
Business Stats is an independent publisher of business, economic and market statistics. Our aim is to make reliable data easy to find, understand and cite, free of charge.
This policy describes the standards our editorial team works to, who is responsible for what, how we use software and AI tools, how we are funded, and how we correct mistakes.
| Role | Responsibility |
|---|---|
| Muneeb, Founder & CEO | Overall responsibility for the site, its editorial independence and this policy. |
| Robert D, Managing Editor | Editorial standards, final review before publication, corrections and reader queries. |
| Touseef, Senior Data Analyst | Builds the datasets and checks figures against their sources. |
| Alina Jones, Content Editor | Edits the notes and explainers that accompany each chart. |
| Ali, Content Writer | Writes articles and long-form explainers. |
| Alex, Data Visualization Specialist | Designs charts so that they are accurate and easy to read. |
| Rioo K, SEO & Growth Analyst | Researches which statistics readers look for. Does not decide what the data say. |
More about the team on our team page and about page.
We use software, including AI-assisted tools, to help with tasks such as drafting outlines, editing language, formatting tables and building charts.
Our rule: AI tools are never used as a source of figures. Every number on Business Stats comes from a named source and is checked by a member of our team against that source before publication. A person on the team is responsible for every page.
Business Stats is funded by display advertising, including Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence on what we cover or what the data show.
We want our figures to be right, and we welcome reports of errors from readers, journalists, researchers and the organisations whose data we use.
| Type | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| Correction | A figure, name or fact was wrong. Fixed and noted on the page. |
| Update | The source published new or revised data. The page is refreshed and the date changed; no correction note is needed. |
| Clarification | The figure was right but the wording could mislead. The text is improved. |
Business Stats has published statistics since before these standards were written down. We are reviewing our older reports one by one: checking every figure against its primary source, replacing secondary sources, and rewriting pages that do not meet this policy. Pages that cannot be brought up to standard are removed or redirected.
Reviewed pages show a recent "Last updated" date and cite their primary sources. If you rely on a page that has not been updated recently, please check the original source, or ask us to prioritise it.
If you disagree with how we have presented a topic, or have a complaint about our content, write to us. The Managing Editor reviews every complaint and replies with the outcome. If a complaint leads to a change, the page is updated as described in the corrections policy.
Send us the link and the figure. We check every report against the original source and correct confirmed errors.
